Elements and Performance Criteria
- Plan and prepare to Monitor, inspect and service ropes and attachments
- Access, interpret and apply service and maintenance documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
- Obtain, read, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements
- Identify, address and report potential hazards, risks and environmental issues and implement control measures
- Select and wear personal protective equipment appropriate for the work activities
- Perform equipment and work area pre-start checks, and ensure equipment is ready for inspection and/or servicing
- Check records for outstanding inspections and/or maintenance and take appropriate action
- Identify the scope of the inspection, correct ropes and attachments, inspection and servicing tools, equipment and consumables according to the service schedule
- Obtain and interpret emergency procedures and be ready for fire/accident/emergency
- Coordinate and liaise with appropriate persons concerning the work
- Establish that start-up procedures have been completed by the winder driver, and the area is clear for the work
- Establish emergency contingency plans with winder driver
- Ensure work area is properly ventilated before entry
- Conduct inspection and service
- Conduct post-service/inspection activities

Performance Evidence
Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:
locates and applies relevant documentation, policies and proceduresimplements the requirements, procedures and techniques for the safe, effective and efficient monitoring, inspecting and servicing of ropes and attachments including:apply legislative, organisation and site requirements and proceduresapply auxiliary equipment operation, servicing, cleaning requirements and proceduresapply equipment operation, servicing and cleaning requirements and proceduresworks effectively with others to monitor, inspect and service of ropes and attachments that meets all of the required outcomes including: complying with written and verbal reporting requirements and procedurescommunicating clearly and concisely with others to receive and clarify work instructionscommunicating clearly and concisely with others to resolve coordination requirements prior to commencing and during work activitiesdemonstrates completion of the monitoring, inspecting and servicing of ropes and attachments that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:carrying out pre-start, start-up, park-up and shutdown proceduresconducting safety checksusing hand and power tools and measuring instrumentsisolating and taggingservicing and inspections of ropes
