Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies relevant documentation, policies and procedures

implements the requirements, procedures and techniques for the safe, effective and efficient monitoring, inspecting and servicing of ropes and attachments including:

apply legislative, organisation and site requirements and procedures

apply auxiliary equipment operation, servicing, cleaning requirements and procedures

apply equipment operation, servicing and cleaning requirements and procedures

works effectively with others to monitor, inspect and service of ropes and attachments that meets all of the required outcomes including:

complying with written and verbal reporting requirements and procedures

communicating clearly and concisely with others to receive and clarify work instructions

communicating clearly and concisely with others to resolve coordination requirements prior to commencing and during work activities

demonstrates completion of the monitoring, inspecting and servicing of ropes and attachments that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

carrying out pre-start, start-up, park-up and shutdown procedures

conducting safety checks

using hand and power tools and measuring instruments

isolating and tagging

servicing and inspections of ropes


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge in monitoring, inspecting and servicing winder ropes and attachments through:

accessing, interpreting and applying legislative, organization and site requirements and procedures for:

environmental procedures

equipment safety requirements

isolation procedures

site procedures

site safety requirements

start-up and shutdown procedures

underground procedures

winder operations

operation of protective devices for shafts

operational procedures and checks

skip and personnel cage operations

rope and attachment types, their construction and their defects

inspection and servicing regimes for ropes and attachments

winder type and operations completing shaft installations

possible defects in winder equipment/installations

with trip and fault procedures and abnormal conditions

with site winder emergency procedures

equipment processes, technical capability and limitations
